Beauty Basics: Beauty BB Cream and CC Cream
If you like the look of foundation, but don’t like the heavy feel, then BB and CC creams are for you!
What are BB Creams and CC Creams?
BB creams and CC creams, also known as blurring products, combine the benefits of makeup and skincare. Part makeup, part moisturizer, they contain pigments that help even out skin tone and are lightweight, so they usually give a natural look and feel.
BB Creams
BB cream is short for “beauty balm”. These tinted moisturizers have skin beautifying properties that brighten, hydrate and even out skin tone for a flawless look.
BB creams have actually been around for almost 50 years, but it wasn’t until the mid-1980s that they became popular in Korea and evolved into a global beauty blockbuster.
For best results, use a BB cream with niacinamide and an SPF of at least 15. Niacinamide removes dead skin cells and evens out skin tone, while SPF protects against sun damage.
CC Creams
CC creams stand for “skin tone correctors”. These creams provide more coverage than BB creams and anti-aging benefits (AA + BB = CC!). CC creams are effective in hiding redness and hyperpigmentation.
Look for CC creams that contain niacinimide and vitamins B and E to help restore a youthful glow to the skin. Niacinimides exfoliate to reduce wrinkles, while vitamins B and E help boost the skin’s natural defenses against moisture loss.
How to apply BB or CC cream
Applying a BB or CC cream is simple. Apply with fingertips or a makeup sponge and blend evenly to create a natural, sheer coverage. Use it alone as a daily moisturizer or apply it under your favorite foundation for natural, beautiful skin!
