How to prevent dark circles under your eyes
Say hello to vibrant and bright eyes.
Dark circles under the eyes are a common beauty problem, no matter what your age. The eyes have always been the focal point of one’s face. This is even more true now that the mandatory masks cover the rest of our facial features. With this in mind, caring for the eye area becomes even more important.
Make the best impression with clear, radiant skin around and under the eyes!
When comparing the facial impressions given by the two groups of appearance – the first group had dark circles and fine lines around the eyes, the second group did not have these problems – the SK-II research team revealed that the latter gained greater appreciation and a better overall impression. So if your appearance presents as clear, lively, cheerful and youthful, you will leave a positive impression on others.

Blue dark circles are caused by poor blood circulation
Brown dark circles are caused by excessive hyperpigmentation
Dark brown/black circles are caused by shadows caused by loose skin
Various causes of dark circles under the eyes
The first type – blue dark circles – is caused by poor blood circulation. Since the blood flow under the eyes is 30% higher than that of the cheeks, the lack of oxygenated blood circulation in this area becomes more pronounced, especially since the skin under the eyes is thinner compared to other parts of the body.
The second type, brown dark circles, is caused by inflammation. This can be caused by makeup or frictional damage from the cleaning and skin care process. Rubbing the eyes to relieve itching caused by hay fever, allergies and general irritation can also damage the delicate skin and cause excessive periorbital hyperpigmentation.
The last type of dark circle is more of a dark brown shade caused by fine lines and sagging skin. Although this is more common as you age, you should start paying attention to the eye area in your 20s and 30s. This can be achieved through simple lifestyle habits such as (1) avoiding excessive use of electronic devices that strain your eyes, and (2) buying a dark circle cream.
4 ways to prevent dark circles and keep the under-eye area bright
The factors that contribute to dark circles can vary from person to person, so it can be difficult to pinpoint the exact reasons why we experience this dark circle problem. For starters, an increased workload means more time spent online and/or on our computers, cell phones and other electronic devices. The blue light emitted from these devices not only causes eye strain, but also causes dry skin, which can lead to wrinkles around the eyes. Since digital is part of our ever-changing lifestyle, we should take better care of our eyes and the delicate area around them by adjusting our habits and purchasing eye creams that help prevent fine lines and wrinkles.
1. Cleanse with products suitable for the eyes
Non-smudging eyeliners and mascaras are popular for their staying power, but removing it can lead to harsher cleansing and damage to the eye area. Over time, this can lead to excessive periorbital hyperpigmentation.
To remove eye makeup, apply eye makeup remover to a cotton pad, hold the moistened pad over the eyelid for a few minutes, and remove. Makeup will be absorbed by the cotton pad and should come off easily when you cleanse your eyes using a top-to-bottom motion. Be gentle and avoid any rubbing action that may cause stress to the delicate skin.

2. Prevent friction damage – don’t rub your eyes
It is important not to rub your skin and eye area throughout your skin care routine, from washing to applying lotion. Always be gentle with your skin and be aware of times when you may unconsciously rub your eyes. People with allergy symptoms such as hay fever and persistent itching should seek medical attention. Remember that dry eyes can also cause itchiness, so moisturizing regularly can alleviate this problem.
3. Choose active lifestyle habits!
Poor circulation and lack of sleep are common causes of dark circles or under-eye circles in the younger generation. Poor circulation can be attributed to temperature sensitivity, as cold air (such as in an air-conditioned environment) can impede proper circulation, and lack of rest and quality of sleep can also be affected.
Choosing active lifestyle habits will go a long way in preventing dark circles under the eyes. One effective prevention technique is to cover your eyelids with a hot towel to keep them warm. Do this regularly and you will see progress.
With a highly digital lifestyle and work commitments, the need to stare at a computer screen, smartphone or tablet for long periods of time can take a toll on your eyes. The blue light emitted by these devices also deprives their users of quality sleep at night. Remember to take intermittent breaks throughout the day to give your eyes a rest. At night, do not use these electronic devices at least one hour before bedtime.
4. Use dark circle cream for proper eye care
Take care of your eyes with products designed for the delicate and sensitive eye area. Don’t forget to moisturize the under-eye area, as it helps to smooth skin texture and reduce dryness, thus preventing the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. Always apply the eye cream with your ring finger (fourth finger) as it is the gentlest on the skin. Tap the cream to allow it to be absorbed into the skin, while promoting blood circulation around the eyes through a gentle massage effect.
